Flow Reporting

As stated in our Quality Control Section, CSO monitoring presents many different conditions and concerns as apposed to sanitary sewer open channel flow monitoring.  The links to the left of this page represent reporting differences - DMR's, Overflow Volumes, Rainfall Charts, and similarities - Hourly Average Data, Line Graphs, Monthly Bar Charts, and Scatter Graphs.

In the publication the "Keystone Water Quality Manager" issue Oct-Nov-Dec 2006, the article "Quality Assurance/Quality Control Aspects of Using a Submersible Area/Velocity Probe for Metering Combined Sewer Overflows" adresses the issue of flow monitoring in intermitent wet and dry environments similar to those occuring in CSO's. Hourly Average Data:

Flow measurement frequencies vary from site to site, and although all of the raw data is provided to our clients in an electronic format, hard copies of hourly average head, velocity, flow, and rainfall data are provided for quick and easy review of daily activities.

Graphs are provided of hourly flows over the course of the calendar month, along with rainfall data.  This is broken down further into weekly charts showing flows with rain.

Monthly Bar Chart:

Graphs are provided of hourly flows over the course of the calendar month, along with rainfall data.  This is broken down further into weekly flows with  daily average dry weather flows, and weekly head and velocity hydrographs.

Flow and Rain Bar Charts:

Monthly Bar Charts depict average daily flow totals, along with daily rainfall totals, in two separate bar charts.

Scatter-graphing of head/velocity and head/flow data points is used extensively by Drnach Environmental.  Total H/V data is plotted, along with total H/F data, and free flow H/V data.  Explanations for our viewing of this data can be found on our Methods and Philosophy page.  Both total and free flow data for long term studies are plotted in a summary scatter graph, color coded by calendar year or month, depending on the duration of the study.
